Thunder Bay National Marine Sanctuary

Weather

To improve on-water safety in Thunder Bay, the sanctuary works with NOAA's Great Lakes Environmental Research Lab (GLERL) to bring real-time weather data to the public.

GLERL’s real-time web camera view of Thunder Bay is located at the Alpena Lighthouse at the mouth of the Thunder Bay River.

Another real-time data monitoring buoy is moored in Thunder Bay National Marine Sanctuary near the shipwreck Montana.
