GALES OF NOVEMBER DAY
Take shelter from Lake Huron’s November gales at the Great Lakes Maritime Heritage Center. Help solve the mystery of the Gales of November Shipwreck, activities for children and accompanying adult(s) within the Shipwreck Century exhibit. Be a history detective and an archaeologist as you find clues and attempt to solve the shipwreck mystery, or challenge yourself to a Great Lakes maritime history trivia challenge, kids make and take your own mystery freighter bookmark. Special movie features in the theater!

NOVEMBER REQUIEM
Daily showing of this documentary featuring the story of the loss of the freighter Carl D. Bradley in Lake Michigan in 1958 and the small northern Michigan community of that is rocked by the unimaginable tragedy of 33 crew members lost from their community. A documentary of extraordinary emotional power, revealing the accounts of families who endured immeasurable grief for nearly fifty years. But it is also the inspirational story of a community fighting overwhelming tragedy… a town that begins a grassroots effort to heals itself, by retrieving a token of the heart. Told from the natural splendor of the Great Lakes, to the idyllic beauty of a coastal town, and finally, plunging into the chilling depths of Lake Michigan, November Requiem will haunt and inspire you for years to come. CENTENNIAL by Chris Winters
Join Great Lakes author and photographer Chris Winters as he tells about his seasons aboard the oldest continuously operating freighter on the Great Lakes, the St. Mary’s Challenger. See fantastic photographs from Winter’s book, “Centennial.” The author will give a presentation at 1:00 pm and will be available to talk about his travels and autograph books throughout the afternoon. Lake Invaders: The Fight for Lake Huron
Lake Huron premiere of this documentary film at 7:00 pm in the Great Lakes Maritime Heritage Center Theater. The third largest freshwater lake on the planet has been invaded by more than 180 exotic species over the last century. A new documentary film produced by Grand Valley State University faculty and students explores the threat to the ecosystem and some innovative solutions. One hour film screening will be followed by a panel discussion, question & answer session with filmmaker and biologists.
